Macaw, Ara Macao-3

The Amazonian rain forest is a bird lover’s paradise, home to over a thousand different species, including the blue-and-yellow macaw. Macaws are highly intelligent, mate for life and can live up to 60 years. The vibrant color and pattern of their feathers make them a popular species in the illegal pet trade, which has devastated populations of wild exotic birds. (by World Wildlife Fund).
These pictures are from African Lion Safari, Ontario, Canada.

  1. Do you know how old these birds are? It’s amazing that they can live for such a long time.

  2. Most excellent photographs, Alexander, yet at the same time it saddens my Heart to know these birds are in cages and that the species has been targeted for illegal trade. The colors on these birds are amazing!!! ❤

  6. Are they complete cages? It’s amazing how well you take pictures of them.

    • Unfortunately, they are 100% prisoners. With the manual exposure it is not really difficult to create illusion they are not in the cage.
Actually, it is really nice for people around the World to have an opportunity to see different kind of animals and birds in Zoo and similar facilities. If not most of the people never see them in the Wild. We cannot feel what that animals and birds feel in their cages although human take care of them pretty good.
