Battery, St. John’s
Coming to the end of the North Head Trail you find yourself in the Battery. Here all the streets are broken and follow the coast line of the bay. The colorful houses and lush vegetation create a fabulous mood. Harsh rocky landscapes turn into friendly and welcoming pictures.
St. John’s Harbour
Signal Hill – North Head Trail
The North Head Trail is Signal Hill’s most popular and most difficult hiking trail. This 1.7 km trail takes approximately 90 mins and descends almost 500 feet. Hikers connect with the trail from Signal Hill’s top parking lot. From there they descend down boardwalk stairs, follow a footpath to North Head at the entrance to the St. John’s Harbour, & hike along the narrows to Lower Battery Road.
Manuels River Trail
Perhaps the easiest hiking trail around St. John’s we found was the Manuels River Trail. It is beautiful and picturesque way along the river. Mostly it is covered by the trees and people can feel comfortable in the shade.
Topsail Beach Bluff Trail
The trail itself is not something special but the view from the bluff is breathtaking.
La Manche, NL
The last visit of Newfoundland was about walking around the St. John’s area to see the beauty of this place. There are a lot of trails around with the different level of difficulties. Some of them is just like city pedestrian way, but most are rough and unfriendly, where you have to be careful. La Manche Village Path is one of numerous beautiful but rough.
Then the path coming to the bridge. From the bridge there is a beautiful view of the ocean.
Finally the trail is coming to the coast of ocean – Doctors Cove. This is nice flat stone place where the ocean waves crashing on the wall and retreat.
Newfoundland
I’ve met this beautiful dog at the Signal Hill in St. John’s. It’s like a landmark of Canadian province Newfoundland.
Sixteen Questions
Unfortunately, many places in the World are isolated today. People are staying at home. Families have a great opportunity to spend time together, have fun, learn each other and discover a lot of things in their children that they cannot even imagine. My Daughter asked her children 16 questions and had interesting answers. But from three of them, the most interesting gave her youngest daughter.

– Nothing. I would just give it to charity.
2. How long does it take to get to England?
– Probably a while. How far away is Europe from Canada? If you walk, it would take forever.
3. What do I always say to you?
– I love you – that’s what I remember most. Or you just yell at me – haha… (😳)
4. What job do you want to have when you grow up?
– It’s hard to choose but if I had to choose one today, it would either be a musician or a video game designer.
5. What is the capital of Canada?
– Ottawa, but in the Animal Crossing it’s Town Hall.
6. Where do babies come from?
– You. Well, from different moms.
7. At what age do you become an adult?
– 20
8. If you could change one rule your family has what would it be?
– To be allowed to whistle at home.
9. If you could be a super hero what super power would you have?
– To die and then come back to life.
10. What would you do to save the planet?
– Break everybody’s phones and electronics so that people would be more focused on each other and studying.
11. If you could be good at one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
– Coordination because you need it for almost everything (Vlada has developmental coordination disorder so this is a sensible wish!)
12. How much does it cost to buy a house?
– A lot. I have no idea – probably $1000.
13. Why do you think we should be nice to each other?
– Because it’s not cool to be cruel.
14. What does love mean to you?
– Sharing an umbrella under the rain ☔️
15. What are you scared of?
– I’m scared of being in a place where there’s no one to talk to and nothing to do, because then I’d be bored and sad.

Quidi Vidi Village
Minutes from downtown St. John’s is Quidi Vidi Village. Quidi Vidi was known for once being a historic fishing village. The neighbourhood is named for both Quidi Vidi Lake (where the Royal St. John’s Regatta is held the first Wednesday in August, weather permitting) and Quidi Vidi Harbour – known locally as “The Gut”. Located in Quidi Vidi is the Quidi Vidi Battery Provincial Historic Site, which had significance as a battery during the War of 1812. The village is also home to Newfoundland’s largest microbrewery, the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company. It has many different types of plants and animals. There are numerous scenic places to visit.
With ten unique, active artisans working in their studios at the Quidi Vidi Village Plantation, there is always something new to discover. Buying fine craft is always a pleasure – but especially so when you can chat with its maker, get to know their process, and see all the hard work and unique processes that go into the crafting of their product.
It was our point of interest on Easter Monday. On sunny morning there were no any signs of weather trouble. However by the time of our coming the snowstorm appeared from nowhere. It was like a blizzard. But in 20 minutes it flew away with the wind as fast as came. After that we had lovely short trip around the Village.
Cape Spear
Cape Spear, located on the Avalon Peninsula near St. John’s, Newfoundland, is the easternmost point in Canada. Cape Spear is close to Blackhead, an amalgamated area of the City of St. John’s, about 1.86 miles (3 km) away.
It was still wintery on Easter Day there. However it was sunny and surprisingly quiet and made hiking and sightseeing pretty comfortable.
Where the Rainbow is living!
It was windy, rainy and sunny day in St. John’s on Saturday, November 8. From the highest point of the city – Signal Hill, you could see where the rainbow was born. It was born in the neighborhood with colourful houses and absorbed their colors.
St. John’s, Newfoundland
The Capital of Newfoundland and Labrador is St. John’s. It is located on the far East End of Canada. The place is beautifully situated on the Atlantic Ocean coast. City is colourful and pretty.
City has a biggest Memorial University in Maritime Provinces of Canada. About 20000 students from Canada and other countries get education in different specialities.
The nature is beautiful and free of pollution because the industry in that part of Canada is not really huge. There are only few small local enterprises which are clean and safe for the environment.
This is nice place for tourism and refreshment.
