I have tried to translate one of my poems from Finnish into Russian. I’ve read your comment and your post about a poem and translation. It is really difficult to suggest right word for translation because in Russian language the same like in others there are a lot of words which has the different meaning in different context. This is why it is better to have the translation of the poem even if it is rough one then try to understand and find the right words.
You posted the song of Yuri Antonov and it is a good example of word “течение” especially in this song. While he is singing he mentions two different meanings of this word. One of them is flow of water, river streaming, the other one is time passing. Sometime Russians say time is flowing like sand through the fingers.
The word dream has a lot of meanings. Also it has the same spelling it has many different meanings. For example, Dream – something which one thinking about and never will approach it (pink castle); Dream – whatever you see while sleeping; Dream – when someone unconscious; Dream – like as an destination you are going to approach; etc.
If you do not mind please send me your translation and if you have English version of your poem (unfortunately I do not speak Finish) I will try to find something suitable for the particular context. I am not a poet but sometime I write one being in the special mood or even try to translate some poems from English and vice versa.
It is only what I can tell you and help you with. Perhaps, together we can make something close to your original poem in Russian.
